What types of boats can the CLiX work on?

The CLiX works on most boats with fill ports from 1.5" - 2.0" openings.

We have found that systems that vent out of the fuel cap work best with CLiX.

What material is the CLiX made of?

Our Patent Pending design is made using a custom blended rubberized material. It is resistant to petroleum products and it is conductive and biodegradable.

What if fuel comes out my vent when filling?

Boats that have the following issues may not work with the CLiX product line.

  • 25+-year-old boats.
  • Boats with damaged vent filters.
  • Boats with Modified fuel filler necks.
  • There are many articles online about the vent issues. you can have a professional place a new vent filter into your boat to help with this issue.
Will the diesel CLiX work with a high-volume diesel nozzle?

The Diesel CLiX is designed to work with the standard-flow diesel fueling nozzle which matches those used for the fueling of cars.  The high-volume diesel nozzle is both larger and has a much higher flow rate than the standard. The High-flow nozzle will not fit into the Diesel CLiX properly and cannot be used with it. Please do not attempt to use the Diesel CLiX with a high-volume nozzle nor try to adapt the CLiX for that use. Doing so will negate any warrantee and could cause the fueling operation to fail putting both the user and the boat at risk.

Customer Questions

I have a new diesel-powered boat with a 1 1/2" fill tube with a chain-connected cap. My problem is that many marinas near me have oversized diesel nozzles with large ribs at the end. I can only get those nozzles about an inch into the fill tube and have to baby the fuel in. Will your device fit in my fill tube with the chain, and will it accept the larger diesel nozzles?

The Diesel CLiX will fit the standard 15/16" nozzle. I believe you are talking about the "Hi-Volume" nozzle. This will not work with our current Diesel CLiX.

My boat has the fuel fill on the side. Does your product work on 90-degree fuel fills?

The CLiX works on the side filler ports. Just follow these simple steps.

  • Remove the filler cap
  • Place the CLiX into the open filler tube so it is firmly seated
  • Then, put the nozzle into the CLiX. (Don't push in too far)
  • Turn the nozzle on a slow fill rate
  • Never leave the nozzle unattended
  • After it clicks off, wait a few seconds for the fuel to settle before removing the nozzle
  • Place your CLiX in the storage package it comes in
  • Cap the tank
How does your product work with jet skis? Filling it up is hard because you have to go VERY slowly.

We have fitted a CLiX to one, so it should work as the fill tube opening is in the same standard range as those on boats.  The units we've seen have a ball chain attached to the fill cap, so we recommend you ensure the ball chain is to the side of the fill tube and not going across it before you put in the CLiX.

While we have not personally filled out a Jet Ski, we have been told by someone who has one that it does work.

If, for some reason, it does not work for you, we will refund your purchase price.

Does this work if the fuel fill is on a vertical surface instead of a horizontal one? And would it work on cars also?

Yes, the CLiX works on the vertical fill ports. Place the CLiX into the open fill port and just put the nozzle. Do not push it into the CLiX to far.

CLiX is not really needed by cars, but it may be useful if you have a vehicle with an oversized fill port.

#1 Does this work while filling California-style gas station handles? #2 Does the end have the ability to curve if the boats fill up and the port is swept?

#1
Yes, it works on nozzles in CA. The nozzles you are referring to as California nozzles are the same as all national ones. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) mandates fuel pump nozzle standards. I believe you may be referring to the locking mechanism that keeps fuel flowing without holding it.

#2
Both CLiX products, gasoline or diesel, nest into the fill port just enough for the end of the nozzle to protrude to aid in filling the boat. So, there is no issue with filler tubes that are angled.

Will the CLiX work correctly with a 2003 Bayliner 245? It is a vented fuel system.

Yes, it will work on your boat just fine!

My boat was converted from gas to diesel years ago. The fuel fill was not replaced, and the diesel nozzle fits just fine. Will the diesel on work with my fill?

Yes. If your boat requires Diesel, then the Diesel CLiX will work.

I have a 2000 Sundancer boat. Will the CLiX work?

Yes, the CLiX will work on your Sundancer boat.

What is the click sound? How does it keep fuel from spilling out of the vent or the inlet? $40 is an expensive plastic funnel!

The CLiX sound is the sound the fueling nozzle makes when it shuts off automatically.

Watch this video, which explains exactly how the CLiX works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PBDoHPSu64Q

The CLiX will not stop fuel from coming out of your boat's vent. If you have that issue, please check out our website, where we have a section dedicated to vent overflow. We recommend a product made by Atwood; you will find it there.

Once you have seen the video and understood more about CLiX and its technology, you'll realize it is more than just a "funnel."

I have a hinged flip-open-style gas cap with the tank vent plumbed 1\4 inches below the fuel filler neck opening on the inside. I was worried your product would obstruct and block off the vent hole inside the filler next, and if I did block the vent, then wouldn't it allow fuel to flow into the tank very fast and possibly build up pressure and burp out? I wondered if you have ever run into this style of vent that is incorporated into the filler neck and what your results were.

The CLiX is designed to work with the vented fill tube port. You mentioned that the filler cap is the flip-up type. These are the redesigned fill ports that have smaller diameter fill necks. If this is the case, the redesign should create the correct amount of back pressure to make the auto shut-off work correctly. In this case, you should not need the CLiX.

Look inside the entry to the fill tube, just under the flip-up cap. If it looks like the nozzle will fit snugly, then you do not need our product.

Diesel nozzles at marinas do not fit into the diesel CLiX I purchased.

The CLiX is designed to be used with standard diesel nozzles, not high flow nozzles which do have a larger diameter. If you could ask your marina if they have a standard diesel nozzle they should, we have not encountered any which do not.  Standard flow is what you should be using with the CLiX.

If you only wish to use a high flow diesel nozzle then the CLiX is probably not for you, please let us know.

I bought the gas CLiX. My filler is on an angle. Will it work and auto shut off in this configuration?

Yes. The CLiX will work on the filler on an angle. Just fill at a lower speed and it should be fine.
